Healthy Options at Restaurants

I believe that the single most important thing that a restaurant can offer right now is a healthy menu. Even restaurants that offer a lot of rich foods can choose to compliment them with healthy options. This is important since so many of us want to stay on track with healthy eating, weight loss and being green or organic in our lives.
I firmly believe that it’s possible to be healthy with every part of a meal. Entrees and appetizers are easiest to get healthy with. However there are healthy options for beverages and desserts as well. Just look at the popularity of the diet cookie if you need an example! Restaurants that make the effort to include at least one healthy choice in each part of the menu will probably be more successful than restaurants that don’t offer this.
This isn’t just about pleasing your customers as a restaurant owner either. It’s about helping out your community. The more healthy options people have, the more likely they are to get interested in and educated about healthy eating. A healthy community is a better community for all of us! Restaurants that opt to be healthy do their partĀ to supportĀ that.

I think you can always eat healthy no matter where you’re going, because the building blocks are the same–vegetables, starch, meat, etc. The real trouble is avoiding temptation, not healthy options.
The trouble with restaurants is portion control! You think you’re eating a healthy meal and you end up with 1100 calories in the blink of an eye. They really try to trick you there.
I can’t stand not knowing how my food was prepared. Look at mashed potatoes; I just put in milk, but I’m sure that these places, to make them addictively delicious, smother them with butter and cream and quadruple the calories. Ew!
Anything can be fine in moderation, but the difficulty is that you can never eat your whole plate at a restaurant, because the calorie count is astronomical! It really is unbelievable, but you have to be strong and you’ll be fine.
It’s not that hard to eat out, people! Just get a hold of yourself and your urges and you’ll be fine. I realize I’m a guy and I burn more calories in a day, but still. Get over it already.
I love that cookie diet! It totally saved my life before my high school reunion; I fit into my eighties prom dress if you can believe it. Totally healthy and totally loved it!
Don’t diet! Be happy. If you just learn to love the person you are on the outside, you’ll be happier on the inside. With or without a few extra pounds.
I know, it’s so tough to eat out! I love going to the cheesecake factory because I’ve found one salad that, if I modify it a bit, I can eat the whole thing completely guilt free. It’s nice to be totally full once in a while!
