Are you in cost cutting mode? Are you pinching pennies and cutting costs in an effort to ease your family’s spending? Like many Americans reacting to the current financial crisis, we are trying to reign in our spending just in case one of us looses our job. We have been faced with a loss of stock savings and are trying hard not to use credit cards because of the volatility in the credit industry.

Taking steps to cut costs and save money we canceled extra channels from our television package. We didn’t watch the movie channels very often so canceling them wasn’t a big loss but it saved us $20.00 a month. We were so excited how easy it was to save a few extra dollars without doing anything we decided to look at all of our household expenses. We contacted our telephone carrier and cancelled extra services we didn’t use. We contact our insurance carrier and they lowered our homeowner’s insurance because we have a home security system. We have had the security system since we moved into our home and never realized we could save money on our insurance by having one installed in our home. We are now thankful that ADT Seattle contacted us to activate our system and are saving us $350.00 a year on insurance costs.
