These days, most citizens are aware of the sad state of affairs concerning our nation’s landfills and frankly, the statistics are frightening. According to the Clean Air Council: the average citizen creates 4.39 pounds of trash per day and up to 56 tons of trash per year; of all solid garbage in the U.S., only about one-tenth gets recycled; American citizens fill enough garbage trucks annually to form a line long enough to stretch half of the distance from the earth to the moon; and each citizen daily throws away enough waste to fill 63,000 garbage trucks. Did you know, however, that using topsoil screening machines can help save waste from filling our landfills?

Topsoil screens can accomplish this in a variety of ways. They can sift out the useable material from compost piles, leaving behind the bigger particles for further decomposition. Dirt screeners can be used to create a supply of clean soil for landscaping and gardening. Portable screeners are utilized at construction sites to supply substrate material for various projects. Unusable materials which are sifted from the dirt, such as metals, can be recycled after being sorted. State and city governments often use portable screening machines to clean up the roadways and reclaim the material which is sifted out. All of these uses mean less waste ending up in our already over-burdened landfills making topsoil screeners good for the environment.

So, if you have access to a topsoil screening machine try and use it. You’ll be happy that you did.
