Being Happy With What You Choose

My boyfriend and I have very different approaches when it comes to shopping. My goal is to find a product that satisfies my needs. My boyfriend’s goal is to get the best product available as defined by some objective source. I believe that my method leads to greater happiness with the things that I have.
A recent example of this came up when we decided to switch to a new web host for our shared website. I wanted to find affordable web hosting that would meet our needs in terms of speed, storage and tech support from the company. My boyfriend insisted that we had to read dozens of reviews to determine which is the best web hosting service as chosen by experts in the industry.
The process took a lot longer doing it his way than doing it my way would have taken. In the end, he wasn’t totally satisfied because he worried that maybe he had made the wrong choice. He figured there might be some better option out there that we hadn’t found. I believe that we made a good choice because the web host that we chose meets our needs. I’m able to be content with the choice even if there is an objectively “better” option out there.
How do you make purchase decisions? Does your method make you happy?
